The U.S. Geological\nSurvey and the Nevada Division of Water Resources, Department of Conservation\nand Natural Resources, divided the state into discrete hydrologic units for\nwater planning and management purposes. These administrative boundaries have\nbeen identified as 232 Hydrographic Basins (1-232; hydrographic sub-basins\ndesignated A, B, C, etc.) within 14 major Hydrographic Regions. There are a\ntotal of 256 hydrographic basins and sub-basins. Designation indicates whether\na hydrographic basin has been identified as a basin where permitted ground\nwater rights approach or exceed the estimated average annual recharge and the\nwater resources are being depleted or require additional administration. Under\nsuch conditions, the State Engineer may designate a groundwater basin and, in\nthe interest of public welfare, declare preferred uses (e.g., municipal and\nindustrial, domestic, agriculture, etc.) (Nevada Revised Statute 534.120) . The\nState Engineer has additional authority in the administration of the water resources\nwithin a designated groundwater basin.<\/span><\/p>", "summary": "Basins assigned to water resource specialists for administration and management of water rights", "title": "Basin Specialist Assignments", "tags": [ "Basin_Specialist_Assignments", "MapServer" ], "type": "Map Service", "typeKeywords": [ "ArcGIS", "ArcGIS Server", "Data", "Map Service", "Service" ], "thumbnail": "thumbnail/thumbnail.png", "url": "", "extent": [ [ -120.13752909899, 34.9902885386413 ], [ -113.794318501604, 42.0347118779869 ] ], "minScale": 0, "maxScale": 1.7976931348623157E308, "spatialReference": "NAD_1983_UTM_Zone_11N", "accessInformation": "", "licenseInfo": "", "portalUrl": "" }
