Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN>The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is the Federal standard for geographic nomenclature. The U.S. Geological Survey developed the GNIS for the U.S. Board on Geographic Names, a Federal inter-agency body chartered by public law to maintain uniform feature name usage throughout the Government and to promulgate standard names to the public. The GNIS is the official repository of domestic geographic names data; the official vehicle for geographic names use by all departments of the Federal Government; and the source for applying geographic names to Federal electronic and printed products of all types. Downloaded on March 13, 2019</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>Nevada was selected for download under the "States, Territories, Associated Ares of the United States" at https://geonames.usgs.gov/domestic/download_data.htm as a text file. The text file was imported to Excel has a pipe-delimited file and saved as an *.xlsx file. The Excel file was imported to ArcMap using the "Excel to Table" tool. In ArcMap using "Display XY features" on the table, the points were displayed in WGS 1984 coordinate system. A definition query was used on the Event layer to select out "Spring" from the "Feature_Class" field. The resuting feature class was projected to NAD83 UTM Z11N.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
