Description: The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP), Bureau of Water Quality Planning (BWQP), is responsible for monitoring and assessing the chemical, physical, and biological condition of surface waters throughout the State of Nevada. BWQP manages and maintains surface water quality and biological monitoring data to support a variety of water quality management programs, including water quality standards development, Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) development and monitoring, watershed assessments, and Clean Water Act Sections 303(d) and 305(b) reporting requirements.This dataset contains current and historical surface water monitoring station locations used by BWQP and partner organizations. Monitoring stations are represented as point features and include both NDEP-managed stations and stations maintained by external agencies or organizations. The dataset supports water quality monitoring, assessment, reporting, and integration with associated chemical and biological monitoring records.Attributes within the dataset include station identifiers, station names, organization codes, associated waterbody information, hydrologic region identifiers, county location, monitoring period dates, and geographic coordinates. Monitoring stations are added and updated periodically as monitoring priorities, program requirements, and available resources change.NDEP monitoring stations, identified by NDEP organization codes, may be shared externally and are used to support publicly accessible water quality information products and links to associated monitoring data. Monitoring stations associated with non-NDEP organization codes are maintained primarily for internal BWQP operational use and are displayed only within internally accessible applications and maps.This dataset is intended for use in environmental monitoring, water quality assessment, watershed management, and regulatory reporting activities. This dataset is extracted from the Water Assessment and Reporting Tool (WART) database and converted into GIS feature class format through automated Python scripting workflows.
